Every year large numbers of used vehicles are exported from Japan to many countries around the world. The popularity of these vehicles has not confined to any particular country, but has spread to the whole world. With every day, reputation of these vehicles is increasing rapidly. Even though large numbers of used vehicles are purchased by many people, but the process is a tricky one as a vehicle may possess some hidden problems. Sometimes after spending a lot of money, buyers are left with only worthless vehicles, which require high maintenance cost. Hence, to avoid any problem, inspection on vehicles is done. An inspection on used vehicles is, most generally, an organized examination or test done on used vehicles to check that the vehicle imported match with the standards of the nation.

During inspection, vehicle’s components are thoroughly inspected by a certified mechanic. Thus it is advised to inspect the vehicle from an expert, before negotiating prices. Various types of inspections such as odometer inspection, quarantine inspection, radiation inspection, roadworthiness inspection, Asian gypsy moth certification etc. are performed on used vehicles in accordance with the import regulations of a particular country that the vehicle is imported. After the Vehicle passes an inspection, a sticker is placed on the vehicle’s windshield.

In many countries, it is mandated to inspect the vehicle before its importation to ensure that the vehicle conforms to regulations governing safety and emissions. Inspection can be required at various times, e.g., occasionally or on transfer of title to a vehicle. In some nations, inspection is carried on periodically; typical intervals are every two years and every year. For instance, in Japan, Shaken is performed on personal vehicles and two wheelers after every two years.

To protect used vehicle importers or buyers from any financial lose, there are many recognized organizations such as JEVIC, JAAI, Intertek, JOCI and many others that perform inspection on used vehicles before their importation. On the basis of level of accuracy of inspection these institutes have gained a fine stature and in some countries it is even mandatory to get the vehicle certified from these institutes before its importation. All inspections, testing and certification of used motor vehicles in these institutes are done by licensed and fully qualified mechanics, thus an accurate appraisal is guaranteed.

Inspections can be classified as per the country’s import rules and regulations, vehicle parts and environment related inspections etc. After selecting a used vehicle as per one’s choice, it is a sensible decision to inspect the vehicle as per the standards of the country the vehicle one wants to import in order to avoid landing into any problems. During vehicle inspection, all imperfections even the minute ones are checked and rectified.

The benefits that come with Japanese used cars are not only money saving, but the best choice that one could get while buying a used car. Importing a used vehicle is not a difficult task, buyers just has to be more cautious to judge the legitimacy of exporters to avoid any problems. It is not that all Japanese used vehicle exporters are fraud. Some of the exporters are in the business from almost 30 years and are known for their trust and services. But there are some exporters who cheat buyers and tarnish the image of trustworthy Japanese exporters in order to make more money. So, it’s good to get the vehicle inspected before its importation as it is better to be completely assured regarding the vehicle’s condition one is buying.
